just sayin’: our wedding brunch

now, i’m a little out of order, but here are some pictures and details from our wedding brunch. we had everyone over to my parents’ house and i’m so thankful we did it – we had a chance to really visit and talk with everyone!

my bridal flowers, from christopher joseph designs in birmingham, made for a great centerpiece – and who doesn’t want to use them again?! i lovvvvvvved them.

we placed ben’s boutonniere out as well (also by chris) i loved the colors.

the leftover cups from our cereal bar at the wedding were great for coffee at the brunch!

our cater, chef on call, brought amazing bloody mary mix – so of course we set-up a bar cart. my sister found this one on craig’s list last year and this was the perfect time to use it.

the pictures are from my grandparents’ and mom and dad’s wedding.

the mini mr and mrs banner are reused from one of our cake toppers. and we had to have tito’s for our austin friends!

the love letters are repurposed from a beauty baby shower we threw for one of my honorary bridesmaids – it’s my favorite paper source print!

a gift area was set-up, and we used the banner from the wedding shower my alabama pals hosted – it looked great with the living room colors.

instead of a guest book we had a wishing tree. we stamped tags with our wedding logo. i’ll be sure to share pictures of that.

sunday after brunch was the perfect time to read through all the sweet wishes from our friends and family – tear.

a big thanks to katie at wedding belles events for helping pull-off an amazing brunch after a longgggggg night!

i tried to do a good job of capturing the behind-the-scenes action at the wedding, i’ll be sure to share those too.

just sayin’: a little sneak peak

our wedding photographers – glass jar – just posted a little wedding sneak peak!

can’t wait to share more.

just sayin’: wedding wear

worked this weekend on getting our look book/style guide together.

i’m in love with the bow ties we got for the groomsmen. they are coming in from england, mrs. bow tie.

i think the color and velvet texture will be great for the fall. to really jazz the boys up – we are adding a pocket sqaure using the leftover material from my sisters’ dresses – can’t wait to see if it all plays out as well as i see it in my head…

i wore: southern picnic shower

we just got back last night from a great visit home. family and friends feted us with the cutest southern-picnic themed wedding shower – i’ll be sure to share those pics this week!

i went with some white – not all white –  and wedges to keep it casual and colorful. i also wore my vintage ‘love’ necklace i picked up last time i was in la.

i picked up the dress on sale, on sale this past winter from anthro – i figured i could wear it to some type of wedding shower. i think it worked out great.

origins of the outfit: dress – leifsdottir; wedges – chinese laundry (dsw); necklace – rose bowl flea market; arm stack – j crew, j crew, hermes.

just sayin’: wedding updates, letterpress invites

better 1, 2, or 3? i was dead-set on having letterpress invites – not dead-set on the prices though; until i found aerialist press. we fell in love with the first one online, but once we saw it in person – it’s just not for us. now, 2 or 3?     also the bridesmaids

just sayin’: be u weddings

when chicago’s be u weddings reached out asking to hear the story of us – i was flattered, we’re not that exciting!

just sayin’: green wedding shoes

our cute little engagement session was featured on green wedding shoes!  it’s one of my favorite wedding blogs, so we were beyond flattered when our photographers said they were selecting us for a feature.

here’s a pic of us in our wardrobe change. i got this dress from one of my favorite vintage stores in austin, tx – feathers. i had it altered, but could never figure out where to wear it – boom, engagement pictures.

we went with a white, black, and red theme , so it was perfect!

i shopped: wedding accessories

ok, the shoes, the shoes, the shoes. i’m obsessed with finding the perfect bridal, but not so bridal shoe. i’ve been through three pairs so far; the printed silk nicholas kirkwood pumps was my biggest heartbreak.

a week or so ago, my gal pal and i went to the luxury garage sale party – a fab place to visit if you live in chicago, or online otherwise!  well, what did i spy with my little designer eye…a pair of new, in the box jimmy choo’s (in my size).

now, discounted they were, but they were still a pretty penny. after wearing them around the store and almost letting them go – i knew it was fate when the song we are planning to dance to started playing at the register – i know, right?! how could i not. here they are in all their glory!

snotty, i know, but i love the ring of , “and the bride wore jimmy choooooos”!

also, have you hit the jcrew sale? may i present my wrist bling for the wedding:

find it here.

just sayin’: bridesmaid dresses

it’s a wedding post!

remember once upon a time when i found the most perfect bridesmaid dresses and thought it was too good to be true…well, it was. but, this time we’re for real.

after a blunder with trying to buy off the rack, we’re using weddington way. it’s basically the facebook of bridesmaid dress shopping. you pick a dress or two, add it to your showroom – and then invite your bridal party to view, discuss, and like. not only is it free, but the dresses i picked we’re about $50 less through weddington way!

here’s what we’re going with:

1. my sisters’ amazing ml monique lhuillier one-shoulder floral-print gown; purchased on gilt

and these two donna morgan ’emily’ dresses in complimentary colors:

and it goes a little something like this:

i love how the dresses structural tie together, and dare i say resemble my top secret dress?
