i wore: color at the beachside

i’ve noticed a lack of color in la – mainly on me, and i’m not talking the tan.

since we moved – i’m more shades of gray (no, not 50…) than colorful. this changed that:

we looked all weekend for a place in la for me to redo – errr, i mean – a new place to live. we are so close, i can’t wait to share it. it’s a charming 1920s art deco unit that our la pals helped us find, fingers crossed!

i wore: neutrals and exotic

between selling my place, finding a place in la, and trying to plan a wedding – i always seem to have a folder and my ipad with me. i’ve been on the hunt for a more unique ipad case that doesn’t read ‘i’m an ipad case’ for a few months now.

and then i saw this on elle when i was searching for a father’s day present – the stachebook ipad case, it doesn’t even look like an ipad, which i love! i put it on my ‘buy for me list’ and forgot about it until i heard someone talking about it last week. turns out it’s made here in chicago by a guy i used to work with.

got this one in tan ostrich (vegan) leather. i think we’re in love, it sorta inspired my outfit. i’ve been looking for something to wear with my crazy fur shoes. how’s that for an ipad case – inspiring an outfit, bet you can’t say that about your ipad cover….

the dress – one of my new steals from the big macy’s sale.

origins of the outfit: dress – rachel roy (on sale now in store); shoes – modern vintage via gilt; arms stack – all vintage; ring stack – abc home store and posh; vegan leather ipad case – stache & hyde.

i wore: monochromatic, PUBLIC hotel

yesterday was jammed pack and it couldn’t have been any more enjoyable or styled!

started off at the gorgeous rooftop of the PUBLIC hotel with the founders of my monthly beauty love birchbox and skirt pr. i met and visited with some of my other fav chicago ladies: jess and jill, love zahra, chic and glamorous – who happens to have lived in birmingham, style plus curves – who happens to be from birmingham, and dress up files – who happens to be my long- lost armstack twin!

after that it was back down stairs for dinner at the pump room and drinks at the library for my gig as a guestbartender – did i mention i love this hotel?!

a big thanks to JKLS PR and PUBLIC hotel for letting me guest bartend – next time you’re looking for a gorgeous bar, with good drinks, an attractive crowd, and great service go there. Ask for Jay, Chris, Matt, or Brandon – they’ll take care of you.

and thanks to my gal pals for showing up and showing out! please excuse the awful cell pics – the real camera wouldn’t fit in the clutch…

origins of the outfit: shirt – h&m; skirt – j crew; necklace – j crew; arm stack – vintage, j crew, vintage, alex and ani, j crew; shoes – banfi zambrelli

i wore: i think i’ll wear…

lots going on tonight , so i’m planning to wear something that will transition easily into a little cocktail gathering.

ummm, have you been in macy’s lately. no?  you should. they have so much stuff – it is insane. i picked up this little rachel roy looker for 40% off last night.

i’m think i’m wearing it to a birchbox event and my little guest bartending gig at PUBLIC hotel. i’m only stuck on the shoes and bag, mmmmm…

if you’re in chicgao – stop by! pump room 9 – 11PM

i wore: black with animal prints

as basic as it gets to me: i added a braided belt for some texture.

origins of the outfit: dress – american apparel; arm stack – luxury garage sale and kenneth jay lane; necklace – vintage; shoes – vince camuto.

i wore: colors of the 4th

hope you had a fab 4th.

origins of the outfit: hat – j crew factory; dress – jack; shoes – dsw; arm stack – vintage, j crew, hermes, vintage, vintage, vintage.

i wore: turban time

summertime is turban time in my mind. when i’m in a hairstyle bind, i grab a cute scarf. i think thinner works better.

diy turban:

  • place the middle of a scarf at the nape of your neck
  • wrap the two ends, crossing them over each other at the top of your forehead/hairline
  • tie them in a knot/bow back at the nape of your neck, wrap until it’s all tucked away – i like for it to look like a bun
